About the Institute

I didn't set out to create a method. The Grasoma Method™ grew slowly from years of sitting with people, studying how human beings heal, and becoming increasingly curious about a question that seemed far more useful than asking what was wrong:

What happened that made this make sense?

Again and again, I saw the same thing.

People weren't broken.

They had adapted.

They had learned how to survive relationships, expectations, losses, disappointments, responsibilities, and experiences that shaped how they understood themselves and the world around them.

And often, those adaptations worked remarkably well.

Until they didn't.

Over time, my clinical training, study of the body and nervous system, work in trauma and attachment, Christian understanding of grace, and years of walking alongside people began to converge.

That convergence became The Grasoma Method™—a grace-based somatic approach grounded in three principles: Grace. Curiosity. Compassion.

And eventually I realized the ideas were larger than the therapy room.

That realization became The Grasoma Institute.

Meet Michelle

Dr. Michelle Corey Colson, D.Min., MA, MA, LPCA is a psychotherapist, Christian counselor, life coach, writer, and creator of The Grasoma Method™.

Her work brings together clinical training in mental health counseling, psychology, life coaching, pastoral counseling, trauma, attachment, mindfulness, and somatic approaches to understanding the whole person—not simply as a collection of symptoms, but as someone whose story, relationships, body, beliefs, experiences, and sense of meaning are deeply connected.

Michelle holds a Doctor of Ministry in Christian Counseling, two master’s degrees in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Human Services Counseling & Life Coaching, a graduate certificate in Pastoral Counseling, and numerous professional designations.

Her clinical work is based at Beach Counseling & Wellness Group of SC (BCWG), where she provides psychotherapy, Christian Counseling, and ADHD assessment services.

Through Grasoma Institute, Michelle extends the philosophy underlying her work beyond the therapy room—creating opportunities for coaching, education, reflection, and personal growth.

She is also the writer behind Fellow Traveler on Substack, a collection of reflections on what it means to be human, to heal, to grieve, to believe, and to find our way home.

A Personal Message from Michelle

I believe we can understand where we have been without allowing it to determine where we are going.

Life has a way of changing us. We move through relationships, responsibilities, accomplishments, disappointments, losses, transitions, and seasons we never anticipated. Along the way, it can become surprisingly easy to build a life around what was expected of us while losing sight of what we actually want.

Sometimes the question is no longer, “How did I get here?”

It becomes, “Where do I want to go from here?”

That is the work I love.

As a life coach, I help people move beyond simply recognizing what is no longer working and begin creating what comes next. Together, we identify what matters, challenge patterns and assumptions that are keeping you stuck, clarify your values and priorities, and turn insight into intentional action.

I will ask thoughtful questions, but I will also challenge you.

I will help you recognize strengths you may have overlooked, notice when old patterns are influencing your new decisions, clarify the choices in front of you, and hold you accountable for the commitments you make to yourself.

I am not here to hand you a blueprint for the life I think you should live.

I am here to help you build a life that is genuinely yours.

That is what being a Fellow Traveler means to me. I may know something about the terrain and have tools to help you navigate it, but we are not walking backward.

We are using what you have learned about yourself to move forward—with greater clarity, intention, courage, and purpose.

Because ultimately, The Grasoma Way™ is not simply about understanding who you have been.

It is about deciding who you are becoming—and beginning to live like that person now.

Dr. Michelle
